Chinese technology companies are increasing their investments in local software and robotics. The latest example of this came from Shenzhen Kaihong Technology and Leju Robot, which use Huawei’s operating system HarmonyOS. The companies, which unveiled the humanoid robot named Aelos, aroused curiosity by being based on HarmonyOS.

Shenzhen Kaihong Technology and Leju Robot have unveiled the world’s first humanoid robot with HarmonyOS. Called Aelos, the robot is now available for sale in China. Aelos is designed for applications in education, healthcare and industrial services.
The humanoid robot, which will serve as a “teaching assistant”, uses a series of sensors to perceive its surroundings. Aelos, which also has dual cameras, is powered by STM32 and RK3568 chips. According to the company, it has advanced capabilities for human-robot interaction.
The biggest difference between Aelos and other robots is that it uses HarmonyOS developed by Huawei. This open-source operating system provides enhanced security, customizability and compatibility between different devices. Being open source allows developers to customize and extend Aelos’ functions.
Li Wang, CEO of Shenzhen Kaihong, said that HarmonyOS was chosen in collaboration with Huawei and will pave the way for easy connectivity between devices. This integration will enable Aelos to be used with smartphones, tablets and computers for versatile applications.
The humanoid robot, which can be used in 17 different ways, is thought to help various roles in education, health and industry. We will see in time how it will be received by users in China.
